The 7 Most Famous UX Influencers in the World

For many people, a day without the internet is like a day without sunshine. So it’s not surprising that UX design has become one of the most popular fields in tech, with more job openings than ever before and salaries to match. And yet, for all its popularity, there are still some really amazing practitioners who don’t get enough recognition.

This article will give you an introduction to 7 UX influencers that deserve your attention.

But first what is UX design and why do people care about it? The acronym UX stands for “User Experience” and refers to all the ways a person interacts with a website or mobile app.

Since users’ needs vary according to their age, gender, emotional state, etc., many different factors can affect this experience.

That’s why the real challenge for UX designers is to keep all these variables in mind and create a smooth, frictionless experience for the user.

So without further ado…the 7 UX influencers you should be following are:

1) Don Norman: as a former VP at Apple and professor of computer science, he has had an enormous influence on the field. His books are incredibly successful (The Design of Everyday Things is particularly popular), and his blog is extremely well-informed.

2) Jared Spool has been one of the most influential UX designers in the world for the past three decades and is a co-founder of Center Centre.

3) Luke Wroblewski has been a very successful entrepreneur, having founded several internet companies, such as Bag check, Polar, and most recently product board. He’s also an author and highly regarded speaker who regularly speaks at conferences across the US.

4) Steven Hoober is an internationally known mobile UX expert and currently works for Google as an industry consultant. He has published more than 100 articles on the subject, covering everything from touch gestures to app design.

5) Steve Krug is best known for his book “Don’t Make Me Think”, which has been a bestseller since its publication in 2005. It tackles the process of designing intuitive interfaces that allow users to interact with websites without physical or mental effort.

6) Josh Clark is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading thinkers on mobile UX and has been praised for his “brilliant, approachable, eminently-readable writing style”. He has co-authored three books on the subject and is currently working as a UX consultant for big companies such as Amazon, Cisco, and Google.

7) Bruce Tognazzini was one of the founders of Apple’s Human Interface Group back in the 1980s and has worked on many extremely successful products since then, including MYNT. He writes and speaks on a wide range of UX topics, with an emphasis on his “Heuristic Evaluation” technique which is still used by many UX designers today.
